Angel White Eyes
Angel White Eyes is an Oglala Lakota (enrolled, father’s side) and Turtle Mountain Ojibway (mother’s side) photographer based in Porcupine, South Dakota, on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and the Black Hills. Specializing in documentary, photojournalism, portraiture, and visual storytelling, her work is deeply rooted in culture and community.
Angel first picked up a camera to challenge the harmful, one-dimensional images outsiders were taking of her people. What began as a response to misrepresentation became a lifelong commitment to telling the truth—with love, dignity, and power. Her photography centers Indigenous voices and stories, capturing the everyday beauty, strength, and complexity of Native life.
She’s worked with organizations such as NDN Collective and Oceti Sakowin Community Academy, always approaching each project with care and cultural understanding. Through her lens, Angel invites viewers to feel something real—to be moved by the truth of who her people are.
